Tron Deadly Discs is a videogame developed by Mattel Electronics and released for the Atari 2600 and the Intellivsion.

Gameplay

You play as Tron, who must fight through endless waves of Warrior Programs sent by the Master Control Program. In the Atari 2600 version, the joystick controls both Tron's movement and aiming of his disc, while the action button fires the disc and also retrieves it. In the Intellivision version, the control disc controls Tron's movement while the keypad buttons control the aiming of his disc and its retrieval, plus the player can go into blocking mode to prevent the enemy discs from striking him. The player must strike down as many Warrior Programs as he can without letting them hit him a few times, which will cause him to "de-rez", meaning the game is over. As the Warrior Programs enter the arena, they leave behind doors that Tron can keep open and use as transports to go from one side of the arena to the other. In the Intellivision version, a Recognizer will come into the arena and seal off all the open doors. The player must aim for the eye of the Recognizer in order to disable it.

Trivia

The Atari 2600 version of this game as well as Adventures of Tron were released in a package that included a special joystick controller that resembled the one from the Tron arcade game.
