The Power upgrade weapon is a device created by Shaw that, when attached to a program's identity disc, gives them a huge burst of energy that enhances their combat skills at the cost of their sanity.
While powered up by the Power upgrade weapon, programs display red-tinted eyes, have vastly increased strength and agility, and can run on walls. This allows them to effortlessly defeat highly skilled programs in battle. A side effect of the weapon's use is heightened aggression, and addiction to the power it provides.
If damaged, the Power upgrade weapon is able to completely repair itself, making it a very difficult weapon to neutralize.
Trivia
The Power upgrade weapon's corrupting influence, addictive side-effect, and inability to be destroyed by conventional means are similar to the One Ring from the Lord of the Rings franchise, the films of which featuring Elijah Wood as the main character and bearer of the Ring.
