[[Kevin Flynn]] left his second Generation Light Cycle behind after mysteriously leaving [[Bostrum Colony]] during [[Abraxas]]' attack on the colony. [[Anon]] and [[Gibson]] eventually found Flynn's abandoned light cycle, causing Gibson to assume something bad might've happened.

Gibson presumed that Flynn would've wanted Anon to have the light cycle and thus, Anon rode it with Gibson in order to escape the Bostrum Colony while havoc was wreaked in it, but he was kicked out of the way by Gibson when Abraxes appeared in front of them and created a wall from the ground up. After derezzing an infected Gibson, Anon rode the Light Cycle to [[Arjia City]].

The 2nd generation light cycle (alternately known as an ENCOM 786) was designed by Kevin Flynn in 1983 and was the fastest light cycle ever made. It is reputed to have been Kevin's original light cycle, having been copied over from the ENCOM servers and customized. The second generation light cycle is succeeded by three more generations of light cycles, yet is still claimed to be "the fastest thing on the Grid". Quorra refers to it as "vintage".

Description[]

The second generation light cycle has the hallmark thick-wheeled look common to all light cycles, however, it differs from other light cycles in the Tron system in several ways. It had a covered canopy that hinged open to allow rider access through the top. It also appears to be able to travel off the Grid without trouble. Its white color scheme contrasts starkly with the black and color-lit designs of all other vehicles in the system. The most notable feature is that, unlike the original light cycle and the newer incarnations, this light cycle is persistent and does not require a rod or baton to generate it.

While Kevin owns the original, there is a non-persistent baton version that exists for programs, called the ENCOM 786. The 786 is stated to be built for speed, while newer generations of light cycles are slower, but also safer.

Able displayed this Light Cycle in front of Beck's two friends Mara and Zed, and although Mara seemed astonished by it, Zed disregarded it as an old thing.

Zed later brought Perl, a member of a criminal gang, into Able's office. and while showing her the various items in Able's office, he showed her Able's ENCOM 786, Though Perl stole the Light Cycle and drove off with it.

Gage drove the ENCOM 786 recklessly, and had severely damaged the Light Cycle, but with the help of Mara, Zed was able to retrieve the ENCOM 786 from the criminal gang. This results in a chase from the gang in an attempt to re-obtain the ENCOM 786, but Zed and Mara are able to get away with the ENCOM 786.

Zed and Mara try to repair the ENCOM 786, but Beck repairs it successfully himself while Zed and Mara distract Able before he can find out where the ENCOM 786. Beck then shows Able toe Light Cycle successfully repaired, but Zed accidentally makes it fall over.

Sam later drove off with the light cycle into Tron City, and was detected by a Sentry who reported the light cycle to Jarvis, which allowed Clu to find the coordinates of Flynn's safe house.

As Sam ventured into Tron city, he drove the light cycle into an alleyway and gifted a homeless program the light cycle in exchange for the program's cloak. • In TRON: Evolution, the 2nd generation light cycle leaves behind a white light ribbon, but the ribbon is more of a bluish color in TRON: Uprising.
  • In TRON: Uprising it is generated from special white-colored baton.
  • It is incorrectly referred to as a first generation light cycle in episode 2 of TRON: Uprising, but perhaps this is because the common Tron system program may not be aware of the ENCOM system.

Trivia[]

  • The number "786" is printed just in front of the back wheel. The black variant has the number "0.82" printed in its place.
