Kingdom Hearts II is an action role-playing game developed by Square Enix and published by Square Enix and Buena Vista Games (now Disney Interactive Studios) in 2005 for the Sony PlayStation 2 video game console. Kingdom Hearts II is the sequel to the 2002 Disney Interactive and Square collaboration, Kingdom Hearts, which combined Disney and Square elements into an action role-playing game.

Kingdom Hearts II is the third game in the Kingdom Hearts series. It picks up one year after the events of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. Sora, the protagonist of the first two games, returns to search for his lost friends. Like the previous installments, this game features a large cast of characters from Disney films and Final Fantasy games. Organization XIII, a group introduced in Chain of Memories, also reappears to impede Sora's progress.

The game was well-received, earning year-end awards from numerous video gaming websites. In Japan, it shipped more than one million copies within a week of its release. One month after its North American release, it had sold over one million copies and was the second best-selling game of 2006. As of December 2006, Kingdom Hearts II had shipped more than 3.5 million copies worldwide.

This video game is noted for featuring Tron and the Tron Universe as one of the levels, letting you interact with Tron and help him, along with Goofy and Donald - of Disney cartoon fame - to defeat Sark and the MCP. A modified version of the Lightcycle game is one of the worlds minigames, though crashing other players into walls is not the point (or indeed, fatal to Sora) & you must instead attack Heartless versions of programs as they pursue you while avoiding Walls that are generated from the Grid.

The Digitisation Tech that allows the heroes to enter the Tron World inside the computer makes further appearances at both the start & end of the game implying that the Technology was further upgraded & refined. It is used to transport people into a virtual recreation of the Real World that looks & responds just like it & without the need to take on the appearance of Programs, & at the end of the game a portable version of the Digitising device is used in an attempt to Digitise the entirety of Kingdom Hearts, although this attempt fails due to the massive size, power & unpredictability of the Hearts causing the Device & it's creator to be destroyed.
