Kevin Flynn's Identity Disc is a unique Identity Disc. Like other identity discs, Flynn's disc operates as a weapon if the need arises, although it has a more valuable function programmed into it by Flynn himself. It is reputed to be a "master key" of sorts, and provides the only means by which a program might potentially escape the TRON system. As the disc of a user it also stores data of a far more complex being than that of an ordinary program.
Kevin Flynn's Identity Disc has appeared in both white and black configurations, apparently changing color to match Kevin Flynn's change in state. He refrains from using it as a weapon directly, and spent many years in hiding to keep it and Quorra safe from harm.
Clu viewed Flynn's identity disc as an object of power and with it he could control the TRON system and possibly even escape its confines and rule both it and the real world at once. To this end he orchestrated a plan to lure a user into the system in a bid to draw Kevin Flynn out of hiding. The plan was a success and even resulted in the temporary capture of the disc, although ultimately it was recaptured thanks to interference from Sam Flynn.
