Illegal Exit
From Tron Wiki, also known as "Tronpedia", working on 87 articles
Illegal Exit is a fan film based on the original lightcycle sequence in Tron. The film is being created by Max Petrosky, James Cronin and Aaron Smith. It is currently in production and will possibly see release in the last quarter of 2007. Its working titles were "MACH", "The Tron Movie" and most famously, the "Open Source Tron Movie Project". The movie is named after one of the lines in Tron: "This is an Illegal Exit", as Tron, Flynn and Ram escape from the game grid.

[edit] Plot
In the first days of the MCP's rule in the ENCOM system, a lone User-believing computer program is forced to play lightcycle games. He finds a way to escape the game grid and tries to derezz the MCP once and for all.
This film takes place before the events of the film, 'Tron'.
[edit] Production
Max Petrosky aka "Mr. Sinistar" on the Tron-Sector forums wanted to do a Tron fan film ever since he watched Tron. It wasn't until recently that he had access to the available tools to make it. Originally, Max was going to animate the entire movie in a very simple game engine he wrote in BlitzBasic. Unfortunately the results were sub-par as evident in this YouTube video:
When Max joined the popular Tron forum, "Tron-Sector", he posted his idea about the fan film. It was during this time that he made the film and the files used to make the movie open-source, to avoid any copyright problems with Disney. Max needed a modeler and a editor for the movie since he didn't have the skills for modeling and the proper tools for editing. Aaron Smith aka "Chikan" and James "Jimi" Cronin aka "NoExcuses" were willing to do the modeling and editing respectively. Max is the main animator, sound editor and music composer. James will also be animating the opening credit shot for the movie.
