Disk

Tron holding an identity disk.

Description

An Identity Disk is the primary weapon in the computer world. Basically, it's a "frisbee" / flying disk, but glows with energy and when thrown, it flies fast enough to derezz a computer program if they get hit. The Identity Disk is a very important item to Programs, not only to protect themselves but also to provide contact to the Users. The disk can also store information and data, as seen in the movie, Tron when Alan told Tron that he was putting data on his disk that will be used to destroy the MCP.

If a program's disk is destroyed or permanently missing, the program will derezz.

Identity Disks in Tron 2.0 (game)

In today's computers, some Identity Disks are very complex and are made from many pieces. These pieces can create projectiles, making the disk deadlier than ever. A program may use subroutines to implement these upgraded disks, and also use others.

Disk Primitive

The disk primitive acts like identity disks from the earlier era. They can be used to throw at enemies or block incoming disk attacks. In the game, you recieve your disk primitive from Byte in the tutorial stage.

Sequencer

Sequencers can only be used while the corresponding subroutine is in the system memory. It is a "rapid-fire" disc, launching multiple disks at an enemy at an energy cost. The amount of possible disks that can be thrown is directly related to the level of the subroutine. Sequencers can be used for blocking, but only when all disks have returned to the thrower.

Cluster

The cluster is one of the most powerful weapons in the game. Like the sequencer, it can only be used with the related subroutine installed. The cluster sends out many shards on impact, usually derrezing the opponent. It has a fairly high energy use.
