Made by Mr. Sinistar. This series of images is to showcase how each frame of the computer world scenes]] were created. With the exception of the last image, which was taken from the DVD, every matte and layer was painstakingly recreated in Photoshop.
The first image is the original 70mm black and white live-action footage shot at Disney Studios. The film was then projected onto a new piece of animation film that measured around 12" X 20". From this animation film an inverted hi-contrast film called a Kodalith (Image No. 2) was used to matte out and create the glowing circuitry backlit animation (No. 3). Separate passes were made for the body (No. 4), the face (No. 5) and the eyes and teeth (No. 6) as each of these body parts used different colors - in this case, brown for the body, reddish brown for the face and an almost white color for the eyes and teeth.
Backgrounds were painted and if there were any backlit background lights, those would be matted as well (No. 7). Mattes of the actor's bodies were then added to the background (No. 8) for the body to show up. After each pass, the shots were finally composite into the final frame (No. 9)
