The Disc Wars are just one of many gladitorial events played out on the Game Grid, where programs are placed into seperate compartments and forced to fight using projectile weapons called Light Discs. If the disc makes contact with it's target, the opposing program inmediately loses the game by way of deresolution. In regards to Users such as Sam Flynn, the disc appears to be no more harmful than being grazed by a sharp blade.
