Crom was a program that originally worked in a bank's computer, primarily in savings and loans, but he was captured by the MCP and forced to play video games on the Game Grid because he believed in the Users. He became friends with Ram and continually fought in gladiator games until he met up with Kevin Flynn in a game of vertical jai alai. Crom accidentally falls into a gap on the platform he was standing on and Flynn realizes that he is about to die. It is Flynn's turn to throw the ball (and ultimately kill Crom), but he doesn't want to. Sark, who is watching the game in his carrier, screams at Flynn to finish the game. Flynn doesn't to kill Crom, but Sark presses a button that removes Crom's platform. Crom falls down the endless chasm and derezzes.
